Bacteriostatic Water for Injection
Bacteriostatic Water (BAC Water) is sterile water for injection that contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. This solution is designed for use in reconstituting lyophilized peptides and other research compounds that require dilution prior to use in laboratory applications.
The benzyl alcohol preservative inhibits bacterial growth in the solution, allowing for multiple withdrawals from a single vial when proper aseptic technique is maintained. This makes bacteriostatic water particularly suitable for research applications where multiple dosing from the same vial is required.
Product Specifications
Composition: Sterile Water for Injection, USP with 0.9% Benzyl Alcohol
pH Range: 4.5 - 7.0
Container: Multi-dose vial
Sterility: Sterile, non-pyrogenic
Usage Guidelines
Bacteriostatic Water is intended for use as a diluent for reconstituting peptides and other research compounds. Once a peptide is reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, the solution should be stored under appropriate conditions as specified for the particular research compound. Reconstituted solutions should be used within the timeframe appropriate for the specific peptide being studied.
Storage
Store at controlled room temperature (20-25°C or 68-77°F). Once opened, bacteriostatic water maintains its bacteriostatic properties for approximately 28 days when stored properly and handled with aseptic technique. Discard any unused portion after 28 days of initial vial puncture.
Important Notes
- For laboratory research use only
- Maintain strict aseptic technique when withdrawing solution
- Do not use if solution is discolored or contains particulate matter
- Single-use applications should use Sterile Water for Injection without preservatives
- Not for use in neonates due to benzyl alcohol content
Bacteriostatic Water is available for research and laboratory purposes only. Please review our Terms and Conditions before ordering.
